Day 1: To Tbilisi

Afternoon flight to Tbilisi, via Kiev, with Ukraine International Airlines. Transfer to the Hotel for 3 nights. (N)

Day 2: Tbilisi

Morning city tour of the capital of Georgia, including the 4th-century Narikala Fortress, the State and Art Museums and the 5th-century Metechi Church, considered the first church in Tbilisi. Afternoon at leisure. (B, L)

Day 3: Mtskheta

Morning visit to Mtskheta, the spiritual heart of Georgia. Visit the Jvari and the Samtavro Church, and the Cathedral of Svetitskhoveli, built on the grave of Sidonia, who died clutching Christ's robe. Continue north to the Georgian Military Highway for a visit to the Ananuri Fortress. (B, L)

Day 4: To Sighnaghi

Morning drive to Sighnaghi via David Gareja Monastery, a complex of 22 monasteries carved into the rock, and Bodbe Nunnery. Stay for 2 nights to the Hotel. (B, L, D)

Day 5: Kakheti

Full-day tour of Georgia's principal wine-making region. Visit the majestic 11th-century Alaverdi Cathedral, the elegant church of Gremi and the Nekresi Monastery. (B, L, D)

Day 6: To Kazbegi

Morning drive to Kazbegi visiting the Ananuri Fortress, en route. Stay 2 nights at the Hotel. (B, L, D)

Day 7: Kazbegi

Morning visit to the Gergeti Trinity church, set poignantly on a hill directly below the towering Mount Kazbegi. Afternoon optional tour to the Gveleti waterfall. (B, L, D)

Day 8: To Tbilisi

Drive south from Kazbegi to Tbilisi visiting Gori, the birthplace of Josef Stalin, en route. View the house where he was born and the museum dedicated to his life. Continue to Uplistsikhe to visit the cave town that has been inhabited since pre-Christian times. Transfer to the Hotel for 2 nights. (B, L)

Day 9: Depart Home

Early morning transfer to the airport and fly back home, via Kiev. (B)
