Itinerary-16 Days

Day 1: Fly to Beijing

Overnight flight direct to Beijing. Please speak to your tour consultant to discuss alternative flight options. (N)

Day 2: Beijing

Arrive and transfer to the Hotel for 3 nights. Afternoon walk in the Summer Palace gardens. Luxury tour includes afternoon tea at the hotel. (N)

Day 3: Beijing

In the morning, visit Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, followed by a tour of the ancient hutong district by rickshaw. End the day with a visit to Jing Shan Park for a bird’s-eye view of the Forbidden City. (B, L)

Day 4: Great Wall

Full-day excursion to the Great Wall at Jinshanling, a quiet and dramatic section of the wall. Picnic lunch provided. (B, L)

Day 5: Xian

Morning visit to the Temple of Heaven. High-speed train* to Xian and stay at the Hotel for 2 nights. (B

Day 6: Terracotta Warriors • Xian

Morning excursion to the Terracotta Warriors,followed by a visit to the Tang Bo Art Museum and a lesson in Chinese calligraphy. Afternoon visit to the Muslim quarter and Grand Mosque, with a stroll among the stalls of the bazaar. Optional evening excursion to enjoy a Tang dynasty music performance with dinner. (B, L)

Day 7: Fly to Guilin

Morning tour of the city walls, then continue to the Wild Goose Pagoda. Afternoon visit to the tomb of Emperor Jingdi (Hanyangling), then fly to Guilin. Stay at the Hotel for 1 night. (B, L)

Days 8-9: Yangshuo

Morning cruise down the Li river, past a landscape of limestone hills, fishing villages and rice fields. Arrive in Yangshuo and stroll along busy West Street, then transfer to the Hotel for a 2-night stay. The following day is at leisure to enjoy the relaxed riverside atmosphere of Yangshuo. (B)

Day 10: Fly to Chengdu

Morning flight to Chengdu, then transfer to the Hotel for 1 night. Afternoon visit to Jinli Street and the Wenshu monastery. Optional evening excursion to enjoy a Sichuan opera performance. (B)

Day 11: Chongqing

Morning visit to the Giant Panda Research Base. Afternoon train journey* to Chongqing, then transfer to a local restaurant for a traditional hotpot dinner. In the evening, board the Victoria Jenna* (or similar) for a 3-night cruise to Yichang. (B, L, D)

Day 12: Yangtze river cruise

Full-day cruise along the upper reaches of the Yangtze with a morning excursion to Shibaozhai or Fengdu. (B, L, D)

Day 13: Yangtze river cruise

Full day passing through the Three Gorges. The cliffs here reach up to 1,200 metres tall. Even after the dam, they remain hugely impressive. In the evening, pass through the locks. (B, L, D)

Day 14: Fly to Shanghai

Morning visit to the huge Three Gorges Dam, then disembark in Yichang. Fly to Shanghai for a 2-night stay at the Hotel. (B)

Day 15: Shanghai

Morning tour of Jade Buddha temple, Yu garden and the historic Bund. Optional evening visit to the state acrobatics show. (B)

Day 16: Fly back home

Transfer to the airport and fly back home. (B)
